The national team is preparing for the UEFA 2020 European Championship qualification match against the Netherlands.

In the afternoon at the «Dinamo» Stadium, a pre-match press conference of the «White-Wings» took place. Mikhail Marhel accompanied by Max Ebonb answered the questions of the media. Then the players and the coaching staff went to the pre-match training, which included a standard set of pre-game exercises.

As previously reported, 23 players were called up and are preparing for the tie.

The upcoming match will be the tenth in the head-to-head history between the national teams of Belarus and the Netherlands. The teams first played in the 1996 UEFA European Championship qualifying round. Then, at the «Dinamo» stadium, the goal of Sergei Gerasimets ensured victory for our team. The return game in Rotterdam ended with a minimal defeat. Opponents crossed again in the qualification of the championship of the continent 2004. The «oranje» got two confident victories in that campaign: 3-0 in Eindhoven and 2-0 in Minsk. On the way to the UEFA European Championship 2008, we once again lost in Eindhoven with the same score, and at home we got the upper hand with a score of 2:1 thanks to goals by Vitali Bulyga and Vladimir Korytko. In the qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the «white-winged» also had two matches with the «oranje»: in Rotterdam and in Borisov. On the road, our team under the leadership of Alexander Khatskevich lost 1:4, and Alexei Rios was the only goal scorer. At the «Borisov-Arena», already under the leadership of Igor Kriushenko, we also failed to take points - a defeat with a score of 1:3, and Maxim Volodko scored. In March 2019, Belarusians failed to achieve a positive result in Rotterdam, losing 0:4.

The draw repeatedly crossed our countries at club level. As part of the UEFA Europa League group stage of the 2010/2011 season, BATE Borisov defeated the Dutch AZ from Alkmaar with a score of 4:1, however, in the return fixture, the belarusian club lost 0:3 away. Then, in the 2014/2015 season, Soligorsk «Shakhter» lost to PSV Eindhoven in the playoff round. The Soligorsk club suffered a minimal defeat away, and conceded two unanswered goals in Belarus. In the playoffs of the last UEFA Champions League draw, PSV Eindhoven met with BATE Borisov. At home, the «yellow-blues» showed a spectacular match and missed a draw in the very ending - 2:3. A week later, away, they failed to provide serious resistance to the opponent. The match ended with a score of 0:3.

The upcoming Belarus - Netherlands match will be held tomorrow at «Dinamo» Stadium and will begin at 19.00. The game will be shown live on the «Belarus 5» television channel.
