Mikhail Markhel — new Head Coach of the «White Wings»
The former U-21 team head coach Mikhail Markhel was assigned for the national team.
The Executive Committee of Association «Belarus Football Federation» assigned the 52-year old specialist as head coach of the national football team. Master of sports during the USSR times, the forward took part in over two hundred games on professional level on the territory of Belarus and also abroad. In Belarus Mikhail Markhel had spells with «Shinnik» from Bobruisk, «Dinamo-Minsk», «Torpedo-MAZ» and «Zvezda-VA-BSU» from the capital, «Dnepr» Mogilev and «Molodechno». The new head coach also played abroad in Russia, Hungary and Yugoslavia.
He started his coaching career in 1997 — and became known as a professional in terms of opening the potential of young players. During his professional activity with youth teams(U-17, U-19) he qualified for the Elite round of the UEFA European championships four times. In 2011 as assistant coach helped the Belaus U-21 team win bronze medals at the European championship. In 2012 as assitant coach prepared the national olympic team for the 2012 Olympic in London. As a holder of a UEFA «PRO» coaching license, since 2012 Markhel has been regularly involved in work with the youth team. In 2019 he was assigned as head coach of Belarus U-21 team and started the new qualifying campaign with a 10:0 victory over Gibraltar U-21. The result is the biggest victory throughout the history of our teams at international level.
