Andrei Zygmantovich appointed as head coach of the youth team

Andrei Zygmantovich was appointed as the new head coach of Belarus youth team, consisting of footballers born not earlier than 2002.

As a football player, he has 9 caps for the national team of Belarus as well as 36 caps for the national team of USSR which he also was a part of at the 1990 FIFA world cup final tournament. The midfielder played for such clubs as «Dinamo-Minsk», «Groningen» and «Racing» Santander. He was twice named best football player of the Republic of Belarus in 1992 and 1994.

As a coach Andrei worked with «Naftan» Novopolotsk, «Dinamo-Minsk», MTZ-RIPO (Minsk), «Kaunas», «Sibir-2» and «Rukh» (Brest). During the period from 2004 untill 2007 hewas in chargew of one of the youth teans of Belarus, later on from 2012 untill 2014 he was part of Georgi Kondratiev's coaching staff at the national team of the country. At the end of 2014 he acted as head coach of the «white wings» in the matches against Spain and Mexico.

Belarus U19 team, made up of players born not earlier than 2002, will play in group 2 of the qualifying round of the UEFA U19 European Championship 2020/2021. The «white-wings» will face opponents from Ukraine, Israel and Montenegro, and the matches of the mini-tournament will be held on November 10th, 13th and 16th, 2020 in Israel. The two best teams from each group, as well as the best squad from among those who took third places, will advance to the elite round, the matches of which will be held in March 2021. There will be 8 teams competing in the final tournament of the UEFA U19 European Championship 2021, which will be held in Romania.
