Montenegro - Belarus. Before the match

The national team is preparing for the friendly match against Montenegro.

Having held the final qualifying match against Germany, yesterday the main team of the country arrived in Podgorica. Today Michael Marchel’s players tested the pitch of the «Pod Goricom» stadium. Aleksandr Gutor and Yuri Kovalev, who were injured in the match with the Germans did not take part in the training session and will not be able to play tomorrow. The pre-match training was preceded by a press conference of our head coach and midfielder Vladislav Klimovich.

The upcoming match will be the fourth in the head to head history of the national teams of Belarus and Montenegro. The teams first met in November 2011. Our rivals earned a minimal victory on their home soil thanks to the goal of Vucinic. In the summer of 2013, the teams couldn't find a winner in Zhodino. Sergey Kornilenko opened the scoring from the penalty spot, but all the same Vucinic restored his the balance. The teams held their last match in March 2016, which ended in a goalless draw in Podgorica.

At club level, the Belarusian MTZ-RIPO met with Montenegro side «Sutjesko» in the UEFA Europa League season 2009/2010. Both matches ended in a draw 1:1, but the goal of Nikolai Ryndyuk, scored in extra time in the home game, allowed the Minsk club to go through to the next round.

Tomorrow goalkeeper Anton Chichkan may hold his debut match for the national team of Belarus.

The upcoming match Montenegro - Belarus will be held in Podgorica at the stadium «Pod Goricom» and will begin at 20.00 Belarusian time.
