Germany - Belarus. On a minor note
The «White Wings» held the final qualifying match for EURO 2020.
From the first seconds of the match, Belarusians were under heavy pressure of the hosts, only occasionally crossing the center of the pitch. To the honor of the guests, the «White Wings» competently defended themselves, not allowing the Germans to create truly dangerous moments at the goal of Aleksandr Gutor. On the 40th minute the Belarusians intercepted the ball in midfield and could come forward in a quick attack - Stasevich’s wonderous shot was parried by Neuer with an equally great save. Alas, a minute later the old football wisdom worked and in the return attack Germany managed to excel - Ginter met Gnabry's low cross in the penalty area.
The «Bundesteam» actively began the second half of the meeting and already on the 49th minute consolidated its advantage: after playing the corner Goretska hit the lower corner of Gutor’s goal with an accurate shot. By the 55th minute, the score became quite large - Kroos took a shot from outside the penalty area and forced the goalkeeper of the Belarusians to capitulate. The guests had the most real opportunity to shorten the gap on the 75th minute - unfortunately, Igor Stasevich was not able to beat Neuer from the penalty spot. The final numbers on the scoreboard were set by Kroos on the 84th minute. As a result we finish the qualification with a 0:4 away defeat.
Tonight Dmitri Bessmertni made his debut for the national team of Belarus.
